Tough conditions for The 60th Ken Dinnerville Memorial Handicap race

Strong winds greeted the riders for the start of the 60th Ken Dinnerville Memorial race. The winds decimated the field throughout the race with record DNF’s. I heard report of riders getting blown into the grass at the bottom of the steep side of Marshal Mount and once you lost the wheel of the rider in front you were in trouble! There was very little reprieve as you seemed to have a crosswind for a long stretch, block headwind in another and a not long enough tailwind to recover!

Simon Anderson (Eastern Suburbs CC) prevailed, starting from Block 8, he soloed away from the reminisce of Block 8,9 and 10 going on the last lap going up the steep side of Marshal Mount (collecting the KOM) on the way to finish ahead by 1min 53sec from  Chris Bell (Illawarra CC) and Kevin Young (Parramatta CC)  just edging out Bernie I’ Ons (Illawarra CC).

Jess Burvill (Sydney CC) was the first Female home and fastest time went to Benn Neppl (Hunter District CC).

I would like thank all the Commissaries, competitors and supporters for coming out in those trying conditions, all the ICC committee for putting it all together on the day. Simon Britton and Luigi Palermo for hanging out in the School carpark with me directing competitors and cars through made for a very stressful day. Finally to anyone  who helped pack up at the end of the day I am very grateful!

Thanks
