Illawarra Cycle Club

To see what events are coming up, you can check out the Illawarra Cycle Club’s calendar on Google and add it to your phone. The club has secured a new 8km race circuit on Mount Keira that’s safe for riders of all skill levels, with great viewing spots for spectators. Five races are planned for 2022, including a junior race. Roads will be closed to traffic from 1 pm on race day. These events align with Wollongong’s goal of promoting sport and active participation and will boost tourism and benefit local businesses. Additionally, a new 2km criterium track at the Unanderra Velodrome will be completed by the end of 2022. We have had confirmation that entries are accepted for riders unable to ride onenor more of the races. So you can just race the Sunday. However there is no discounted entry.

And as a double super bonus, entries are now open for an extra 24 hours.

But don’t leave it til the last minute.

The last winter criterium in winter for 2026.
And a reminder that next weekend is the Brennan Illawarra Tour – Criterium Saturday morning, Mt Keira Road Race Saturday afternoon and Dapto/Marshall Mount road race Sunday morning. So if you rock up at the Crit track Saturday afternoon you’ll be all by yourself.

Thanks to Nath finishing his comms quals (capably watched by Garry), Sophie and Chris on first aid, Beatrice looking after sign on, and Josh setting and packing up.

Our Junior Riders keeping busy at the Saturday afternoon Criterium. Some of this crew might be pushing the age limit of the Brennan Illawarra Tour, but don’t forget races are open to riders U13 and up.

There is limited time remaining to register for the race. Registrations close Monday 31 August at 11:59pm.
