Jnr Track Nationals

First day of junior track nats produced some fine results for Illawarra riders.
Ryan and Tane both made the round of 16 in the sprint and Ryan went on to the 1/4 finals after turning his opponent inside out. Great effort for 2 first year boys.
Shari was a credible 10th in the tt with a pb and then her and Tahlia had to dig deep to get bronze in the team pursuit. The girls had to find 2 seconds to catch the Victorians and lost a rider halfway through. They found 5 seconds and got themselves a podium.

PB’s were the order of the day for Illawarra riders on day 2 of junior track nats.
First up Tahlia set a new pb in the fly on her way to qualifying for the round of 16. Thats as far as she went and was quickly and humanely dispatched by the eventual gold medallist. Ryan and Tane set new PB’S in the TT with Ryan scoring a top 10.
Next up Shari and Tahlia took on the 50 lap points race which quickly turned into a suffer fest with attack after attack. Feeling the pinch Shari attacked the bunch with 14 to go and chanced her arm. The bunch was ruthless and reeled her in, Tahlia grabbed a point and got herself in the top 10.

The 2017 NSW junior track championships ended today with our 8 junior riders coming away with some medals, a whole lot of personal bests and some gold level experience.
In the U15 men Ryan and Tane step up as first year riders and did themselves proud. Ryan with with a silver in the scratch and bronze in the kierin and sprint. Tane with an excellent 5th in the ITT and the sprint.
U15 Women, Amelia showed some brilliant sprinting skills to get her to a medal ride and a well deserved fourth while Emily in her first outing looked in her element and come away with some pb’s.
U17 Women Shari took a bronze in the ITT with an awesome time and then rode for a medal in the pursuit ending up with 4th and making the kierin final. Tahlia finished 5th in the pursuit and took silver in the kierin with a very clever ride.
U17 Men Luke and Sam in their last outing as juniors were in the mix in a large and talented group.
