Interschools Cycling Championships

Illawarra Cycle Club had three representatives compete and medal in all colours at the NSW/ACT Interschool Cycling Championships at Lansdowne Park.  It was a very hot day and riders had to endure the heat, dust and strong gusty winds.  Congratulations to Tane Mathews O’Brien (Yr. 7) who was outstanding, placing 2^nd in the Time Trial and Criterium, then topping it off with a 1^st place in the Road Race. This result placed him 1^st overall in the Junior Men U15 Championship.  Well done Tane! The girls were not to be outdone with Jacinta Cliff (Yr. 9) placing 3^rd in the Time Trial, Criterium and Road Race, to then medal 3^rd overall in the Junior Women’s U17 Championship.  Sarah Cliff (Yr. 7) was a strong competitor, placing 2^nd in the Time trial and Criterium, then finishing with a thrilling 1^st place in the hotly contested Road Race. This gave Sarah  2^nd place in the Junior Women’s U15 Championship.
