Illawarra Cycle Club had three representatives compete and medal in all colours at the NSW/ACT Interschool Cycling Championships at Lansdowne Park. It was a very hot day and riders had to endure the heat, dust and strong gusty winds. Congratulations to Tane Mathews O’Brien (Yr. 7) who was outstanding, placing 2nd in the Time Trial and Criterium, then topping it off with a 1st place in the Road Race. This result placed him 1st overall in the Junior Men U15 Championship. Well done Tane! The girls were not to be outdone with Jacinta Cliff (Yr. 9) placing 3rd in the Time Trial, Criterium and Road Race, to then medal 3rd overall in the Junior Women’s U17 Championship. Sarah Cliff (Yr. 7) was a strong competitor, placing 2nd in the Time trial and Criterium, then finishing with a thrilling 1st place in the hotly contested Road Race. This gave Sarah 2nd place in the Junior Women’s U15 Championship.
