Junior Sydney Tour Day 1 and 2 – Report By Steve Dole

Our juniors really put on a show today at the first day of the junior tour of Sydney. It started early with Curtis puting in a strong performance in the ITT for 4th. Things got better from there with Ryan Britten going third in the 15 boys and Amelia Trkulja then delivering her best ITT for 1st. Not to be out done Shari Heffernan delivered a 1st and Tahlia a 2nd in the 17’s.
In the road race Curtis held 4th while Ryan delivered the win in a massive bunch sprint. Amelia scored a good 3rd and Shari and Tahlia relived the TT with 1st and 2nd again in a sprint that involved 4 riders and a ute. Emily, Sarah, Tane and Luke Britten were also in the mix with a couple of strong rides.

Day 2

The final 2 stages of the junior tour of Sydney held today were good ones for our junior riders.
Curtis battled on in the 13’s and consistency paid off getting him 4th overall in the tour.
In the 15 girls Amelia like her brother showed how a consistent approach gets you there in tours with an excellent 3rd place overall. Emily battled on all day and Sarah in her first tour improved with every ride.
Things really started to fly in 15 boys with Ryan getting a win in the kermese and 2nd in the crit to put him No.1 on the podium at tours end. Tane rode strong and finished in the bunch kick in both races.
In the 17 women Shari was outstanding with 2nd in the kermese and 1st in the crit to get her first and a well deserved tour win. Tahlia was 1st in the Kermese and 2nd in the crit and 2nd overall. A great effort for the girls to clean sweep all 4 races
Luke Britten was a workaholic and had a good win the crit heat.
Next week they get their climbing shoes on and head to Canberra tour.
